Incense sticks i.e. xiāng 香 have been known in China since ancient times. Używane są w celach religijnych, aromaterapeutycznych i w tradycyjnej chińskiej medycynie. Występują w kilku formach: podłużnych 线香, round 盘香 i conic 塔香. They are made of powdered wood and natural essential oils.
